spare paddle, whistle, cellphone in a dry bag, flashlight, sprayskirt
etc….

Check on the weather, marine conditions and the
tides.

Match skill to conditions.
- Make sure that all bungs and hatch lids and spare paddle are attached
properly to your canoe.

Take your drinking water.

Always tell someone where you are going and what
time you will be finished.

Wear suitable clothing to paddle in.

Take care in populated areas.

Never paddle alone.

DO NOT use waka in shore/surf brake.

Take a waka course from your local club or organisation
to thouroughly familiare yourself with safe paddling techniques and
seamanship.
